The son of two Albuquerque police officers, Sgt. Louis Heckroth has been an Albuquerque police officer for 12 years. Before taking over the department's auto theft unit, Sgt. Heckroth was a member of APD's Repeat Offender Project (ROP). He is a graduate of Sandia High School. Known as an aggressive officer with a “superior work ethic” Heckroth was recruited two months ago to take over the auto theft unit.
